Buffalo Sabres have secured their third straight win against the New York Rangers, ending their winning streak 4-1 on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden. Zemgus Girgensons and his teammate Eavander Kane gave the Sabres a 2-0 lead in the game and Justin Bailey along with Jack Eichel scored two more later to give them a comfortable 4-1 win over the Rangers who were looking forward to a fourth victory in a row of the season.
This is the third straight win for the Buffalo Sabres against the New York Rangers, second in this season. Before that, the Rangers had nine wins in a row against them, an impressive record that the Sabres would love to leave behind with their second win in this season out of eight games. Anders Nilsson successfully stopped 24 shots during the game, helping Sabres to gain an edge over the New York Rangers. Nick Holden scored the only goal for the Rangers with Henrik Lundquvist stopping 15 shots.
Buffalo Sabres opened the scoring as Girgensons had his fourth goal of the season with 7:43 minutes left of the first period. Kane stretched the Buffalo lead in the last minute of the first period making it 2-0, scoring his ninth goal of the season. Though the Rangers created chances in the first, the attempts were fruitless. Rangers took a third blow within a minute into the second period with Bailey scoring his first goal in N.H.L.
New York Rangers will play against the host Philadelphia Flyers today at Wells Fargo Center. Buffalo Sabres will play their next at United Center of Chicago against the Chicago Blackhawks tomorrow. Buffalo Sabres is currently at the bottom of the Atlantic Division while the New York Rangers are holding the third position in the Metropolitan Division.
