New York Giants had a less than impressive season with losing to the Packers 38-13 in their last game. Before going in to the next season, Giants have a lot to think about. There are certain areas where the team surely needs a lot of improvement and one of them surely is Odell Beckham Jr. Despite being an important part of the squad, Odell has come to the headlines several times in the season for all the wrong reasons.
Recently, the Giants’ star wide receiver made it to the news for (reportedly) punching a hole in the wall at Lambeau after his team lost to the Green Bay Packers. According to the source, he also banged his head on the locker out of frustration. All this happened right after Odell’s interview with the reporters. The 24-year old failed to make any impression on the field during the last match as he dropped four passes including one that was a sure touchdown.
Some reportedly claimed that Beckham’s recent yacht tour to Miami could have a role in his poor performance against the Packers. According to some critiques, this might have left him under-prepared which was visible throughout the game. However, Odell has denied the allegation claiming that the trip was a necessary distraction and it is unfair to link it back to his poor performance against the Packers.
Recent statistics show Odell Beckham Jr. to be one of the most popular athletes in the social media who is considered to be the face of the Giants. However, Odell has received sharp criticism from his own management and others who wants him to “grow up”.
The NY Giants’ star has been selected to his third Pro Bowl, finishing the regular season with 101 catches for the 1,367 yards including ten touchdowns. This was a rather impressive comeback for him considering the slow start he had in the 2016 season.
