Agitated New Yorkers are stocking up supplies including salt, shovels and food as they wait for a massive blizzard expected to start around 2 am on Tuesday with 12 to 18 inches of snow. This mid March blizzard has captivated New Yorkers forcing them to stock up supplies since. Accu Weather meteorologist Tom Kines has advised to avoid travelling either by air or land on Tuesday and requested everyone to stay safe at home as the snow is likely to fall throughout Tuesday and light dusting on Wednesday with blusterous wind. According to the forecasts, the wind might worsen the heavy snowfall which might blow up to 30 mph and the temperature is likely to fall.

Average snowfall throughout March is expected to be 20.2 inches with 19.4 inches for the year, which is relatively usual but 12 to 18 inches in March is alarming.

Governor ordered the state’s Emergency Operations Center to run on Monday night and to be ready to deal with this massive snowstorm and the city Department of Sanitation has circulated to have salt spreaders with plows prepared to deal with the adverse situation. Governor’s office will keep the transit service open during the blizzard.
