Frequently asked questions
- Where does this data come from?
- From the MTA's public subway service alert feed (GTFS-Realtime, JSON). We pull it every 15 minutes, keep a copy on our own server and count the alerts with SQL.
- Is this real time?
- No. It can lag the live MTA feed by 15 minutes or more. Check the MTA before you travel.
- How are alerts counted?
- Each alert id counts once in the totals. An alert naming several lines counts once for each of those lines in the by-line tables.
- Is this an official MTA page?
- No. It is an independent page, not endorsed by the MTA, and it uses no MTA logo, map or line symbols.
